Because you can.
“The world is the great gymnasium where we come to make ourselves strong” – Swami Vivekenada
Mother nature has provided us an amazing place to focus and work on ourselves. Spoken as a true gym junkie, sometimes you just need a break from a crowded gym floor.
Before leaving the Bay Area in California this summer I made it a point to get outside and do just that. Make myself stronger.
Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA has a nifty built in workout station along the south end that allows you to kill the abs.
It also has parallel bars for working the upper body. I am definitely not a gymnast however they are good for dips.
There was also temptation.
Along the north side of the lake were traditional pull up bars.
Across the Bay in San Francisco along the Marina, there is also a workout station. A bit well-worn and with an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island, it still serves it’s purpose just as it should.
If for no other reason to take your workout outside…..see the world around you.
