Q How did the dumbbell get it’s name?
A The Greeks are credited with inventing what we now know as organized fitness. They had many clever (and intense) methods of training. Above is the Halteres. A stone they used to lift, drag, and throw around. The dumbbell was made by removing the clapper from an iron bell and affixing the remaining portion of the bell to a bar.
Nicknamed the “dumb” bell.
